I've stated from the beginning of all of this that I believe everything we do in the Middle East goes back to oil.  It also goes directly to the security of our country.  Like it or not we're dependent on a steady stream of oil from the Middle East.  It goes without saying that it should be a main priority of those who lead our country to maintain the supply.  Of course, it should also be a priority to see that alternative fuel sources are also explored.  Are you willing to ration yourself to a few gallons a week and forgo any future interest in oil from that part of the world?  The Middle East has something we need and we pay them well for it.

When you've got a lunatic sitting in control of the world's 2nd largest supply of oil I think that should cause us all to pause.  And when this lunatic proves to be no less evil than Hitler, I think it becomes a no-brainer that you use that opportunity to remove him.

No, I don't think Bush's motives were totally altruistic.  I have some doubt that we'd be there if it weren't for the oil.  If we were a country which supplied the world with medicines necessary for the entire planet's survival and we had a madman in charge, killing hundreds of thousands of our people I'd pray to God that someone would come to our rescue.  Would you welcome the help?  Would they be right in offering it to keep the supply of medicine flowing?

We'd be foolish to sit back and let Saddam remain in power when we've been given the invitation we've been given to get rid of him.  Is that so hard to understand?

Yes, Peter, I'm troubled that we aren't able or willing to bring freedom to all the others who lack it.  Vietnam didn't offer us anything but yet we sacrificed 57,000 American lives to try and bring freedom to them.  We've also been to Korea.

I'm sorry Bush didn't sell this war to you for reasons other than WOMD but I seriously doubt you would have given him the go-ahead to do what needed to be done if he hadn't.  Let the oil flow stop to our part of the world and once our commerce comes to a complete hault and real starvation sets in you'll be crying that Bush didn't do enough when he had a chance.
