Kevin Phillips is here in Seattle this week and I'm hoping to catch his talk at Seattle's Town Hall on Friday night. If I go I'll post a review for anyone interested.
I find a bit of hope that staunch Republicans like Phillips and Paul O'Neill have the decency to separate their own traditional business oriented philosophy from the hard-ball apocalyptic power-mongering view of the current corporados occupying the White House.Critics like these carry a lot more weight and are a lot harder to dismiss than the usual suspects.
On another note, I'm ashamed to say that Dick Cheney blazed into Seattle this afternoon, raised a couple hundred thousand dollars for the state Republican party at a prominent local hotel and Seattle activists apparently snoozed through the whole affair. Nobody showed up to protest the most indictable figure in the entire Bush administration.
Seattle is famous for the WTO protests a few years ago- but hey- reputations can be squandered. Hopefully your hometown can do better when the next robber baron comes fundraising in your neck of the woods.
