Gene:Well, first of all --- I would prefer to have something on DVD ---
as opposed to VHS --- simply because my DVD player has never
eaten a DVD like my VCR has eaten numerous VHS tapes over the
years. The extras on this DVD amount to two things primarily:01) Albert Maysles Director's Commentary track over the original
documentary.02) The 51 minute "Making Of" documentary. The making of documentary contains footage that has been
reassembled from the unused footage, providing some great
moments:These moments include hotel room footage, footage on the train,
and at the Ed Sullivan Show rehearsals. My favorite moment of all these extra moments is when John
Lennon is talking to a fellow train traveller about being a drug
addict --- referring to cigarettes, of course.Even though The BEATLES are not my favorite band by a long
stretch --- I still believe that these types of documents are
important history in terms of American pop culture. It is TERRITORIAL IMPERATIVE as far as I am concerned. But, should you buy a copy? That depends on how much value you
place on history of an enjoyable sort. With The BEATLES, there were never any wars, no new world orders,
no disenfranchised segments of the population. It was all only
about one thing --- love, peace, and happiness for all.KDB = Buffalo, NY USA
