Right now, not much is known about the Kerry-woman scandle, but here is something that is missing in these two scandals.First, a little backstory. I was in the army during the first Gulf War and just prior to the actual build up, regular army soliders happened to be around a huge number of Cadets - these were military college boys in training. These boys were the gung ho-est of all people and would gladly chant crap like, "Let's go kick some Iraqi ass" and "Let's take out Saddam." And what really pissed the regular army guys off was that all of these bastards knew they were going back home very shortly and resume college while we were the ones to be heading to the middle east. This became such a problem that army supervisors had to take these cadets aside and tell them to either shut their mouths or be ready to accept some serious ass kicking. Sort of a chickenshit hiding behind the legs of his big sisters boyfriend after antagonizing the neighborhood bully. And this is the sort of stuff people in the Bush adminstration are doing and have done. Now, keeping that in mind - Here we have a president who dresses like he was a "soldier", acts like he was a "soldier" and walks like he was a "soldier." The issue is not that he went into the National Guard or whatever, but how he ACTS. He is not humble that he took the easier of ways out. The man checked the "no overseas" duty on the forms back then and the other day told Tim Russer on Meet The Press that he would have glady went if called up. Well, where would he have went? To Iowa?!?And now the Bush crowd is offended that a WAR veteran and surrogates are pointing this out? And how do they counter? Back to the usual....More clearly put....here you have a potential debate between a man who fought in war and was wounded versus a man who talks like he fought in a war and stayed safe in the US.(And forget trying to throw in the "oh, you are insulting the current Nat'l Guard and Reservists because I am not. Frankly, the current admin is now using them in ways they have never been used before, or possibly in ways they were never intended to be used. I have the greatest respect for the people that do the part time military duties, especially now. But back then, these units were used for the protection of the elite, privledged and well off.)
