This is why I only update my new equipment once a decade. I just can't keep up with the armsrace.
However, my lovely wife just bought me a package 5.1 system and she got a new flatscreen sony as well...much larger than my ancient television that I bought before the grunge era.
I wish there was a way to rent the 5.1 CD's because I just don't see us spending any money on them right away. But Kent, I've heard similar reactions to others who have heard old records in the 5.1 realm and folks say the same thing.
I haven't set the system up so I haven't had a listen yet. I want to get the room painted and get stands for the speakers before I do anything else...so it will stay in the box for now. Just lookin' forward to seeing my Lord of the Rings Extended Discs and some of my other movies in that format...and then there will be Star Wars. *drool*
And y'know...I'll bet Triage would sound great in that format. All those samples creeping out from different angles. I'm gettin' tingly. Perhaps it will be released someday.
