so i'm at work on the ferry today, talking to the Coast Guardsmen who often ride with us on an unscheduled and frequent basis. one of the guys has a brother in the armed forces who is presently in Iraq. he shared with me two things:
1.) families of the deceased are being paid $300,000 for each family member killed
and
2.) a significant number of fatalities and injuries inflicted on our troops are being caused not by "IED"s, but in fact, Stinger missiles.
