I know exactly what you mean Gene. It's taken me these many years to begin to separate the truly great Sinatra from the truly awful; and there was a lot of both. I'm just talking about the mid-fifties stuff.
Anything after the early sixties was likely to be overblown and bloated, like New York, New York or Strangers in the Night.
