The cartoon was funny but did you catch that the issue was that Rummy was saying DoD played no part and had no responsibility in what happened on 9/11? Which is for one thing an outright lie and for another just plain sad that one of the key members of this administration would say that.

He throws the blame on "law enforcement" and means in this case the FBI. What he does not admit to at all is that the system and process is in place...has been in place...that he as Secratary of Defense is supposed to be meeting regularly with the director of the FBI to assess the terrorist threat because these agencies are supposed to work together and share information.

Yes, the threat ended up being "internal" or "domestic" but it did not originate here did it? And we attacked two foreign countries in it's aftermath. So what Rummy is saying pretty much in his statement is he didn't do his job or worse does not understand what his job is. He just points the finger at the FBI. It's not really about "Could they have predicted 9/11?"...it's about how did they do their job and how did they respond and do we need to find someone else to do the job. Does that make sense?
