Oh, I think it needs to happen. We just need a good location, reasonably accessible to all who wish to attend, and everything else should fall into place quite naturally. I liked the canoeing or camping idea, but that might not be everybody's cup of tea, and might be in a remote setting where travelling might be more difficult.
I do this (what I consider) low-impact bike ride each Autumn on a very scenic trail here. Initially I did a century (100 miles), but in the past ride we have done 60 miles and it is plenty; we could even do a shorter route than that. It is a fun ride, beautiful (if the weather holds), and plenty of time for comraderie, and hanging out. So that may be an option, but would not be good for folks that are not too athletic. Dan did it with me one year, and aside from the fact that we got cold and wet, it was still big fun.
Maybe hooking up at an outdoor musical event where there is option for picknicking might be best. See my post on Western Maryland Blues Fest...that's the kind of festival where that certainly would be possible.
I dunno...any other ideas? Maybe we could just go over to DB's place for a cookout!! I'd love to see him with a Chef's hat on...flipping burgers on the grill!! Hmm, maybe watermelon for dessert, then we could pull out the guitars for a little bluegrass jam afterwards. Hell, I'll even invite the "Fat Man" for that one.

P.S. We could all chip in to help Mick and Kathryn's air fare (and anybody else from elsewhere)
