I'm curious to know...I used to have a friend (I lost contact with him 6 years ago) who would smoke marijuana several times a day.  He's in his late 40s and still lives at home.  He can't keep a job more than 6 months and when you go down into his basement where he lives, it's like walking back into 1973 when we were in high school.  He's still got some of the same stuff cluttering his place as he did then...as of 6 years ago anyway.  I always assumed it was the dope and that it stunted him somehow.  Is this a possiblity and if it is, how common is that sort of thing?

It's not as though he's a helpless individual.  He just appears to not want to grow into the roll of father or provider, even for himself.
