I remember once several years ago going into a Stop and Go down here in Austin scouring the movie sections and finding one with Ethan Hawke who I always liked. So I take it home wondering why I've never heard of this movie about a boy and a girl meeting on a train in Vienna and spending the day and then the night together. I was literally mesmerized by the movie and rented it again and again and then finally bought it. I thought Julie Delpy was so pretty and the dialog and innocence of they characters was so sweet. Well the sequel is out and I went to see it last night (only showing at 2 theatres here) and was so dissappointed until about 30 minutes in and then it was mesmerizing again. The ending was perfect just perfect and if it was really Julie Delpy singing that song she sings at the end for Ethan she really can sing. They have aged quite a bit both of them but the innocence lost and the crushing blows of them not meeting up in Vienna a year later almost 9 years ago has permanently changed both of their lives. Very strangely I met a girl in my younger days while in London walking alone through the Tower of London (she was from Australia had an umbrella and it was drizziling waiting for me about 20 feet she asked in her Austrailian accent "Would you walk through with me?") and we spent time together for a week in London and Scotland (and almost Paris but we could not get Visas) and so the movie really had a parallell in my life. The Original Movie (Before Sunrise) gets 5 stars and the Sequel (Before Sunset) 4.5 stars
PS. Thanks for the support of a few of you. I really appreciated the emails.
