Yeah, it feels like we're being played like a fiddle. The damned thing is there could actually be a credible threat but who would believe it? My guess is that if another attack comes it'll be another complete surprise and we'll be as unprepared as we were three years ago.

The whole color coded alert system is asinine beyond belief and yes, the colors always seem to grow hotter when some kind of distraction is required.
