Hello Pat,
In no way was I trying to start a controversy with Lost Highway in my post I left under David's last message. It was just a brief comment on my experiences with the Street Team. I should have elaborated more on my problems. I do however feel that my comment was justified! They sure do work in a very strange way, and I do understand that they need to weed out non-sincere and willing fans. I am also aware of the fact that they have many other artists to promote, besides David. I'm glad you have posted this thread and I shall email you asap.
*My Little Story*
You see I tried to join The Street Team about two to three weeks before HCTNFU was to be released. After a week or two, I finally recieved an email from a gentleman at the label to list ten places I would like promote David's record. I responded to the email, and heard nothing for over a week. So, I re-sent the same email again. He responded, saying that he loved my list and that he was in NYC and would contact me when he returned to the office. About a week or so later I recieved a email from a different person at the label. I responded to the email with the same email I had sent to the first man. Well here's one fault on my part. I didn't read the entire email, only to see that the second person had added that I couldn't put record shops on the list, that the local rep for the label handles the record shops. WHAT??? I have been shopping at the same three local independent record store in Tempe, Arizona for over 15 years! I personally know the owners of two of those shops and I'm a friend with the day manager of the other. I stated all of this in my list. I also have noticed that the only Lost Highway promotion, I have ever seen in those shops, was a poster for Ryan Adams, once, after his second solo record came out. His email also stated tht if I didn't respond in 24 or 48 hours, that I would no longer be considered for the team. You would think that all my emails were proof enough that I was a loyal fan? My list was very creative as well, strictly targeting the more educated music fan. WHATEVER!!! I guess I blew with the Street Team? BUT, I'm more than willing to work through you or anyone else that is willing to help me out from this board or the Label.
