Icon Vietnam: A Television History

Has anyone seen this fine 11 hour PBS documentary on the history of the Vietnam war? It's just now available on DVD (it was first broadcast probably a decade ago). I just got a copy and watched the first episode tonight.

Stunning parallels to our current policy and our complete misread of the character and the nationalism of the people we're attempting to "liberate". In fact it's not really a parallel is it? It's been one continuing thread all along. We haven't learned a goddam thing and what a tragedy for all those returning Iraq war vets who are going to find indifferent bureaucrats at the VA, denials of their health care claims and benefits, struggles with chemical dependency, mental health problems, unemployment, and homelessness. Think I'm overstating the problem? What do you think DB's "Stranger" was all about?

Anyway, off on a fuckin' tangent again.... Ed says: "Vietnam: A Televison History". Check it out....
