I haven't given Ray Davies an adequate listen but, for Waterloo Sunset alone, he should be thanked (a well respected man, I guess). I'm pretty sure the first concert I ever attended was a Kinks show in Lowell, Massachusetts (77-78 I think). The Kinks should also be commended for one of the greatest rock n roll Christmas songs (Father Christmas), though IMHO, I have to say the top honor goes to Paul Kelly's masterpiece, How To Make Gravy!
