How old are you? Do you have any recollection of the Vietnam war and the US role in VN? The parallels between what we claimed to be doing in VN and what we claim to be doing in Iraq are striking- and tragic.
You seem to me like a passionate and intelligent observer of the world. You don't seem very well versed in history however; even your own country's very recent history. May I recommend you go to your local DVD rental store and check out "Vietnam: A Television History". It's an eleven hour documentary on the war and a grueling watch. If you make it thru though I think you'll be moved and perhaps have a new perspective on current events.
Us old guys on the board who remember those days can't help but shake our heads as the same old arguments and rationales lead us down the path again to sorrow and destruction.
