Envy? I don't think so. I have absolutely no desire to own a Humvee. I will admit here publicly that I used to own an SUV but I sold the motherfucker a few years ago and never gave it a second thought. I drive a Honda Accord now and in good weather a '91 Miata. (You can understand why Humvees give me the willies cantcha?)
Superiority? Well I think it's pretty ridiculous that we're fighting over ever-scarcer, ever more expensive fossil fuels (and making the OPEC nations richer in the process) so that some suburban housefrau can drive a quasi-military vehicle to the mini-mart for cigarettes and tampons.
If that's superiority then fine: I prefer to think of it as withering disdain.
I don't understand your line about the cigarettes and I don't understand Dale's comparison of idiotic Americans to jihadistic beheaders. Apples and oranges baby. It doesn't let the American idiots off the hook for a moment.
