Kevin my first thought was that Americans might be surprised at how 'ungrateful' they (Iraqis) might be at being liberated. And I think a lot of anger and rage and hostility was subsequently directed at Americans and they did seem 'ungrateful'. My next thought was that Arabs in general are pretty ungovernable...they seem to have a fiefdom mentality...they'd resent, dislike and couldn't handle democracy...I can't think of any arabic country where there's a half decent democracy...I don't think that arabs are understood psychologically by America enough. Now there seem to be so many groups that can destabilise and terrorise that it does look like they've failed...I sometimes wonder do the Amercian army now know who they are fighting at all...it used to be easier didn't it...Saddam...ahh the gool old days...I think it will just get worse now...I'd say there lots of non-Iraqis fighting there that will never come out and fight a 'man's war'...it has to be understood in a complex way not in a Bush type soundbitey thingy...
