It was fun.  Of course by this point in the race nobody is saying anything new and Bush was no exception today.  It was nice to be associating with people of similar thinking though I must say.  One thing which really hit home to me and probably the most profound thought which kept ocurring over and over to me was the diversity among the crowd.  No, it wasn't a bunch of middle age white men in suits.  There was no snob factor, just a bunch of down to earth people coming out to cheer on their president.  It was refreshing.

Rachel had a great time.  It was an all day event for us as we left home around 9:00am and caught the light rail into Minneapolis.  It's new and we'd been wanting to ride it for the first time so we worked that into our plans.  I don't get excited over crowds but I was glad to see such a large turnout for the rally.  We got their several hours early and the lines to get in were already over three blocks long.

The president had his wife with him and he spoke for about 45 minutes.  Fortunately for us we all had ear plugs because it got quite loud at times.  Minnesota isn't known as Republican country but I think we have a good chance of delivering the state for him this time.  We're getting more conservative with each passing decade although there was that hiccup a few years ago when we elected the wrestler.

When the rally was over and we were leaving there were a couple hundred very vocal Kerry supporters outside to let us know of their distaste for Bush.  They were across the street as we were walking out.  We ended up getting turned around and had to double back in their direction.  We came up behind them and I let out a big cheer for President Bush and began a chant of 'four more years'.  Several of them converged on me and we went toe to toe for a few moments.  It was fun and I tried to give this guy a hug but he didn't want to be my friend so I took his picture instead.

The funniest moment of the day though was when Rachel went running past me as I was face to face with this guy and she was saying, 'Hey everybody, I'm a right wing nut job'.  It was too funny and I'll never forget it.  Way to go kiddo.
