is all this could have been prevented early on and the rest of the world is again laughing at the US claim of it being the world leader in elections. 

For one, Diebold should have lost all voting machine contracts when it's CEO made his idiotic comments about doing all he could to make sure Bush won in Ohio.  And to be completely honest, voting is one thing the US Govt should not ship out to private businesses. 

Next, no machine should be allowed that cannot be verified for accuracy.  Random verification should be possible, as is found in almost everything else. 

And as I've said earlier, no American should have to wait over an hour to vote.  The practice of such a thing is only allowed and influenced by letting incumbents hold onto power - they are the true benefactors of people who do not vote, not the American people.
