Iran, which President Bush had labeled an "axis of evil" with North Korea and prewar Iraq, was named an "outpost of tyranny" last month by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

I'd like to suggest some new descriptive phrases for use by this administration, in hopes that one of them will sufficiently deflate Iran's self-esteem enough to prompt real change. Just imagine if we pulled out the stops and began to use language like this: 

• A depot of despotism
• A bailiwick of iniquity  
• A purveyor of empty calories
