I happened to spend a few days with and around Dr T a few weeks
ago, and he was quite ill, and out of sorts. My suspicion is that the
combination of what he saw as an unacceptable diminution of his
physicality, and his other, larger political despair made life seem
unbearable. It's a terrific shock, but he chose his end, and I think
we need to respect that. His children are grown. R.I.P, though. You fought hard, Hunter Thompson, and you gave
everything you had. Not many can say more.db
