I don't particularly like blues except say Clapton

Unless you are referring to very early Clapton when he was with John Mayall, or perhaps Cream, I can't say that the words blues and Clapton can really be mentioned in the same breath as much  as SRV and blues (electric blues were talkin' here...mainly).   Now Clapton did, a few years back release an actual blues album that was really fine, and he is a superb blues guitarist, but...he doesn't/didn't play the blues for most of his career.   Stevie always did, doncha think?  Maybe you don't care for that style of blues though.  He fashioned a lot of his licks after Albert King (why I do not know..of all the Kings out there, he is my least favorite player) with some Hendrix and a lot of Stevie Ray originality at the basis of it all.  Oh well..we all hear differently.  But..if you want to hear a real good "member" of the King family, then it's Little Jimmy King all the way (aka Manuel Gales).  Now that is the real BLUES, stinging, burning, crying, baby, crying...  Love it.
