I know we have gone back and forth on this board, in bits and pieces regarding musics we listen to and presumably like etc..with recommendations for our fellow DBISers, though aside from the odd thing I think some of us have done privately, and Dan's DBIS mix idea, here's another suggestion (that although mildly labor/labour intensive at outset pays off BIG dividends in the long run, in my experience).  Now I have done this on another site, albeit the numbers of people involved were smaller, but here's how it works: You make a comp of whatever you like (different artists..different genres etc...) say as many tunes as a single CD will hold (that's usually around 14 or so, say 74 minutes worth), include the track list with the band/artist names,at least, (if you wanna do art, photos with your printer, even better), then burn copies for all participants who wish to be involved (if we get even a few people who contribute it'll be very worthwhile).  The tracks should all be from different bands (ie a sampler of different musics) NOT a CD of one group/artist.  Yep, you mail 'em to all participants, buy the blank discs,  and there is postage cost, envelopes etc...BUT...then you receive in turn the comps from everybody else.  Now maybe that's too much music, but..it has opened my ears to things I never would have heard before, and I think the true measure of the success of this venture, is when you actually find yourself buying new music from the newly heard artist/s, going to see them in concert (if they're still touring) etc...You might even discover a new favorite band/artist, follow them around from gig to gig, party with them, ride on the tour bus etc...(heh,heh).  Some people object to burns because of the ethical and potential though remote legal issues, but if it opens new possibilities to new sounds/groups, and you get interested and buy these other artists, I personally think it's a good thing.

So...firstly..if you are interested (some of us will feel this to be a pain and not want to bother...understandable), give a show of hands, by replying to this post or Emailing me on the site.  Once I get a count, I'll ask you to Email me your current addresses, and I'll try to keep the list updated as various people join on later, or some drop out.   I'll do the first comp burn and mail 'em, then the rest is up to everyone else. I recommend thin sleeve jewel cases, but some folks like to keep it cheaper with paper sleeves (that's OK also).

For this to work, please honor your obligation to your fellow Burn Unit members, and although these take time to put together (but are big fun to see how creative you can get), they are very worth the hard work.

Lemme know.  If there is or isn't interest in this.  DB included and invited (we can send his/receive his via ? Andrea or Dan...to uphold the privacy issue).
