I never heard of Lauren or her music. Her story was an interesting read. Getting press in France with the very famous "les inrockupibles" is awesome for an unknown American talent. Two other artists that come to mind are: the great U.S. talent, Joseph Arthur who has three albums out on the Realworld Label (to see this man play live, is a amazing experience), and the Irish singer/songwriter, Gemma Hayes, who was short-listed for a Mercury Prize this year. Both Joseph and Gemma have fairly strong support in France.

I have to agree with Lauren, in meeting the late, great, Jeff Buckley. I would have missed the Dave Matthews show as well. I was lucky enough to see Mr. Buckley perform live during his short career as well. His show was in support of "Grace" with his band. They played a show at a small, old, movie theater in downtown Tempe, Arizona. I brought a friend who wasn't into his music, she didn't seem to want to go to the show either. Well we went to a local bar before the show and got a wee bit drunk. We were late for the show and sadly there were about thirty people in attendence. Well, I can't tell you how many people I run into over the years, who say they were at that show. I think the count is over a hundred by now!

Thanks for the link, I shall check out her music soon!
