You must be referring to Garry Meier. Steve and Garry virtually ruled the Chicago airwaves in the 80's and early 90's. Steve Garry and Steve's band Teenage Radiation were all the rage in Chicago.

A very acrimonious break up occurred when Garry got married and took on his new wife as his agent. Steve soldiered on, diminished but still on the air. Seven years or so ago he stopped broadcasting and just disappeared for 6 months. When he returned he was sober and quickly landed back on the radio where he continues to this day (number one in his demographic). In my opinion as good or better than he ever was.

Garry on the other hand drifted for a year or two and then landed on an AM talk station paired with a guy named Roe Conn. They were an excellent pair with Garry again playing his perfect role as a foil and second banana...until in a contract negotiation, again with his wife in charge, he blew himself out of another successful and lucrative job. He reportedly turned down $12 million for 4 years (dumbass). That was about 2 years ago. Where he is today is a mystery to me.

If you were a big fan of Steve's I have a couple of his recent shows in MP3 format (one is a Best Of). If you interested I can probably send them to you when my Burn Unit CD finally goes out (Life keeps slowing my progress). Let me know.

And how do you know Steve?? I assume you spent time here in Chicago.
