Is anyone aware of any conservative move that has actually increased American civil liberties? The only thing I can think of is how former Georgia Rep's Bob Barr and Tx's Armey expressed concern over the Patriot Act and for a brief time linked up with the ACLU.From my memory, it seems to me conservatives are more interested in curtailing or limiting our civil liberties. Take the recent one - Bush's mouthpiece dared to lecture on how Newsweek's Koran abuse piece (now it appears the Koran was abused) caused deaths, put America's good name in jeopardy and how Newsweek ought to apologize (how any Bush official could say such a thing with a straight face is beyond me). So it seems that conservatives will use almost any means (anti-patriotic, giving aid to the enemy, hate America, et cetera) to prevent Americans from exercising their constitutional freedoms, rather than strengthen them.
