Ditto on all that, But I would go to the Gardner Museum over the MFA. This lady, Isabella Stewart Gardner had her house, a three- four(?) story mansion, turned into a art museum after her death in the 20’s. Three stories of Art is hung in Salon style. The greatest Titian painting in the US resides there. It has to be seen. A one of kind place! Hop, skip and a jump from the MFA.

I would avoid Newberry Street, even though I loved the place back in the mid 80’s Far to many chains and tourists. Harvard Square has changed a lot as well. Though, you have to see the campus, and there is enough local flavor to rid you from the Chain overload. If you do the Freedom Trail, make sure you stop by Mike’s Bakery for some wonderful Italian-American pastry. Every one knows where it is. Don’t forget to ask a Boston Street Cop for directions. You’ll get a kick out of the way they talk, and if you can decipher their dialect and directions, you got it made! Just remember every street is a one way, so don’t even think about driving!

Btw, I went to college in New Bedford, 45 mins South of Boston. I bet you Peter and Reg knows the city far better than I.
