I think they're completely different. "Clutching..." was obviously autobiographical for Fish, warts and all. His lyrics are some of his best and the band, at that time, was hitting on all cylinders. Too bad it all ended after that. This is an album that should not be simply played in the background. It requires one's full attention to fully appreciate it's brilliance.
"And if you ever come across us don't give us your sympathy
You can buy us a drink and just shake our hands
And you'll recognise by the reflection in our eyes
That deep down inside we're all one and the same
We're clutching at straws."
