A couple questions:

How do we ensure that each album only has one thread?
That is a good question. I've thought of a couple of approaches
1. I enter all the new entries checking to make sure we dont have a duplicate media
2. Let users search and do this themselves. (Risky because they may not be that careful)
3. Let users submit suggestions to a suspense file where they would programatically be added
(I think some form of option 3 is what I will pick)

Can the list be sorted so that one can see if the album has been mentioned already?
I will have full searching/sorting capabilies and the point of the thing would be to do musical
taste profiling. Everyone here has one basic common musical ground in that they like DB's music
but that does not necessarily mean we still like everything else they like. In other words your
review of a given media may mean little to me if we have vastly different musical tastes. The goal
would be to match up common musical tastes amoung people and discover good new music/movies/ video
games etc

Where would the ratings go?
In the header of the review. I would probably have a pulldown that would allow selecting 1-5 stars.
I was looking for something to maybe make this unique to this site and am open for suggestions

Would the results be compiled?
What do you mean by compiled? Various reports and breakdowns?

Can we get reports off of it - highest ranking, newest listing, most heavily reviewed...?
Yes that would definitely something I would do

Can someone who entered the review go back and modify it?
Yes as long as each user has a unique profile name (handle) ie kravitz. I could store this
in a cookie. If security became an issue I might have to make it a little tougher but in the
beginning I would not

Can you add a field for guest musicians?
Sure

Are you going to integrate this into the disc swapping setup you've alluded to?
Yes it would be primed for a swapping network not be confused with burning because that would
be illegal but yes there would be ways that you could add the fact that you owned a master of
the CD. One way would be in the review itself where I could add a checkbox for owning a cd during reviw.

Thanks Ian these were excellent questions
