Amazingly enough, I happened to see that exchange. I noticed that O'Reilly uses something called side-chain compression on the guest microphone. In other words, when O'Reilly speaks, or bellows, really, the volume of his guest's mic decreases, making it very easy for O'Reilly to steamroller his unsuspecting guest. It's a dirty trick, and speaks volumes about his character. A real bully/ coward kind of a thing. O'Reilly was just shouting at Rangel, allowing no opportunity to respond. Just ranting away. If I was Rangel, I would have just pulled off the mic, smiled wryly to the camera, and walked away.
