Unfortunately I think Bush will put and equally problematic candidate up there like Miguel Estrada
To be really cynical about this, one might even conclude that Miers was a set-up, knowing that they would have a hard time on this one anyway, so why not set up a "fall guy" to get that out of the way, and then send up a real hard ass. Which is exactly what I think they will do. I don't think that the public can take much more of this, so now the pressure will be on the Senate to confirm. The conservatives want to hear the magic words, "I'll overturn Roe" and that will be all they need. Figuring out the next choice should be an easy one: pick the worst nightmare you can imagine, make sure they are anti-Roe and you've probably got the choice. And this time, Bush will make sure he gets his real pick.
