Well I was flipping channels after watching Rules of Engagement and low and behold there was Ray Lamontagne singing. Again several singers came to mind watching this guy. Mainly Otis Redding and Cat Stevens and especially Norah Jones but he definitely is unique. I had to wonder why this guy has not gone way over the top and it dawned on me that the material he has is very good but not great. He sounded top notch having strings backing him up on Shelter and another song. I think the reason he is not a great showman is he does not feel comfortable in front of crowds much like what David has expressed about peforming live. There was a short interview after the show where he admitted giving up performing for 6 months to year period because he could not shake the issues of performing live. If you get a chance to view this show do by all means and I expect big things from this guy in the future.
