Thank you all for your advice. My first attempt to access all of the sites mentioned was met with failure. The activex ability was disabled or corrupt or I don't know what, but it wouldn't allow the programs to run. After running System Mechanic6 a few times the computer was able to run the programs suggested. Office Call found the virus (?) Java ByterevB which I deleted as it was not deemed cleanahle. The others found a variety of orphaned files and sick regs which were removed or fixed. The computer is no longer wheezing and is working (fingers crossed) better than it has in a long time. THANKS!!!
