I've had TweakUI on my PC since they introduced the Windows Toys for Win 95 - worth the download - expands your OS options well past the usual. You also might consider creating another user account without admin rights and operate using that - Non-Admins cannot install software, so anything malicious like the Sony rootkit gets stopped in it's tracks.
