I'm with Krav on this. I think it's a far better thing to have made a film about this subject matter...with the involvement of Mr. Baer no less...despite what shortcomings people may find with it.
Yeah, it is heavy material and I think in the time frame one has to tell a story in a film like this certain things have to be simplified. Also, you have to take into consideration that it is an entertainment as well, so the idea there is to create some sort of involvement for the audience with the characters and story and I'd guess that's a tough thing to balance when you are also trying to portray such complex world affairs.
So my take on it is that it's a film that will hopefully stimulate discussion about the ground it covers. Maybe not so much with folks who visit here because like you said Cass the people who come here seem to be aware of the real world events that this film fictionalizes or plays off of.
I will say that it did not seem to make much of an impact as it's already rapidly disappearing from local theatres here.
