I must say that I have successfully disconnected myself from modern culture. I have the "record of the year" by Green Day (which came out two years ago), and have also heard the "female pop performance" winner. With the exception of the White Stripes "best alternative music album", I do not own any of the other winning songs or albums.

That being said, I still found myself watching the awards ceremony. Overall, I thought the show was quite entertaining. The one disappointment was their alleged tribute to Richard Prior - all they had was that WalMart Ho blabbering. Oh, and Crowe looked twice as haggard as I recall.

Did anyone else note the theme of the advertisers?  I would guess half the ads were for music download services.
