In a society that values self-confidence and out-goingness, it's a mostly flattering picture for liberals. It also runs contrary to the American stereotype of wimpy liberals and strong conservatives.

...so definitive of the assiduous conservatives I’ve known.  Astute, scheming...with what they like to term a business-not-personal cunning (exploitation/opportunism; manipulation with an easy smile or a wily grin: edginess/paranoia...without the assistance of chemicals...lol...).  Generous as a technique ~ maybe genuine...but it’s a tough call, ...and easy goin’...until disagreed with.  Correct-to-a-fault, ...unmoved by theories that do not compliment their own; ...intolerant of all notions not involving profit &/or conflagration dogma that sustains their directives...even if their directives are in contrast to their dogma.  This is an over amplification perhaps, ...but 8 ounces of Jameson & ice, so smooth...so perfect a glass of spirits has it’s place on a rare occasion like tonight...& so...well...there’s some veneer of truth in the notion....

Disagree with a hard-line conservative on anything that matters to her/him after 11 o’clock at night.  There’s an ol’ gyreen buddy of mine, seen a lot o’ places together, ...rigid red-team/blue-team GOP champion to the end...who will always have something below the surface that he’s leading the moment to...while making everybody comfortable...with impeccable hospitality & an easy smile & open bar policy.  BUT, ...I know just exactly how to get myself kicked out of HIS house.  & it’s usually around midnight...when the conversation turns to politics & religion.  [Chuckle/sigh]  No variety of common sense...can prevail the sanctimonious torrent....

& yet he’s a pal.  I'd take a slug for 'im. 

It takes all kinds, ...no schidt....
