Oh, & some hep cat named Jimmy Smith

Jimmy was the man.  I was very lucky to see him gig just a few years before he died.   

Now for a real treat, listen to the CD entitled Unity by Larry Young.  Elvin Jones is the drummer and Joe Henderson on saxophone.  Very hip.  If you are a Hendrix fan, you might recall Larry  played on Electric Ladyland.. I think Steve Winwood did also.   And..speaking of Steve Winwood...my all time favorite organ vamping is definitely on the live Traffic album Last Exit, with the Bricusse-Newley tune, Feeling Good.  A must listen.
