It was pissing down with rain that morning and I was wearing Shire light cotton trousers, thus the Gandalf type pose with the rain beating against my face. A few helicopters flew overhead making it surreal but there is a lot of army activity on Salisbury plain. We headed off to Glastonbury after that and had lunch in the Rainbow's End cafe where the seeds of hippiness were sown in Dan. I tried explaining how to makle 'Dahl' and the importance on incense. He's been to the Shire quivalent of The Prancing Pony i.e. The Old Spot. Bit of an expert now is our Dan on real ales...let him tell you about them. You haven't lived unless you've done an English real ale festival. Conditions weren't conducive to full authenticity as it was dry warm and sunny that day in June...completely out of keeping with the weather for an ale festival
