Since we're in a country frame of mind I want to recommend Jim Lauderdale, one of the best singer/songwriters in the traditional country genre. He's terrific, and if you like Merle and Johnny you'll probably dig Jim. He was Lucinda's back-up singer and guitarist on the "Car Wheels" tour.
