I fail to see how that is an opposing opinion. Opposing what – thinking about what we are doing before we do it? What exactly in his speech do you feel moved and inspired to counter?
Byrd’s speech was addressing the silence and inaction of the elected officials of the United States of America in dealing with (hiding from) the grave issues before our country. This wasn’t a cry out to see what some Brit columnist has to say about tree hugging granola-heads dragging their Columbia coat-clad children out for a peace rally.
Aaronovitch makes some interesting points – I just find them unrelated to the topic at hand.
