It's a case of checks and balances.  Were you to hand all  power over to labor unions, you'd likely get an equally horrible mess.  For the record, I do think we've headed too far down the path of "business friendly" government.  But the Republican revolution is in its dying throes anyhow, don't you think? 

It'll be interesting to see what people think as the pendulum swings the other way but unemployment goes up and access to capital constricts.

I think David is wrong if he believes the precise goal of the current administration is to return society to slavery/feudalism, but treading too far down the Republican path could lead there anyhow.
