Ed-- With respects, but one of the major differences between your, mine, and their ancestors and the current crop of millions of illegals is that the majority of our ancestors came in through legal channels, did the paperwork, waited their time, started paying taxes, and then said the pledge. Illegal immigrants, undocumented workers, economically displaced Central Americans, whatever you want to call them....they didn't go through legal channels. That’s why they’re called illegals and undocumented. They snuck in, they stayed, and they are leeching off the tax dollars paid by you and me.

Yeah, it sucks that their own countries are shitholes that any reasonable person would want to escape. Yeah, it's great that the USA is still the Promised Land for a lot of folks. But if I suddenly decided (for reasons I can’t fathom) that if I snuck into, say, the UK to work for cash and not pay taxes, hoping that the government would educate my kids, you’d better believe they’d have me on a slow boat back out in no time. I can’t see why the US should be any different, even if we are a country made up of immigrants.

I'm all for land of opportunity, I'm all for giving people a leg up, but they have to go through the process. Otherwise...they're just breaking the law, for chrissakes, and they should be prosecuted and deported. My great-great-grandparents earned it. I’m betting yours did too.
