Iris Dement was supposed to play in Madison on Friday night. A near capacity crowd paid $20+ a person to see her, and she walks out on stage and says I won't play. Club management had to quickly offer refunds.
Does anyone think this is appropriate? Screw over your fans, many of whom traveled to get to the show after finding babysitters etc...

Folk singer jilts audience due to war
The Dixie Chicks have nothing on folk singer Iris DeMent, who came onstage Friday night and told a nearly full Barrymore Theatre she could not perform while war raged.
After a lengthy introduction by local country music historian Bill Malone, DeMent came onstage and in a soft, emotional voice explained that she would not be presenting her show.
"It would be trivializing the fact that my tax dollars are causing great suffering and sending a message to the world that might is right," DeMent told the crowd.
In the end, she had to listen to her heart and it was telling her not to sing, she said.
