After the litany of woes that David listed, I felt compelled to add to the depressing state of affairs. I have provided a link to Thursday's On-Point radio broadcast out of Boston. The subject of the show concerns the trillions of dollars in debt that continues to accumulate due to our budget deficits, and more importantly, the enormous future financial burdens of medicare, and, to a lesser degree, social security. The authors of this study place the debt at $170,000 per citizen. The implications of this are staggering yet we won't hear any politicians provide meaningful advice on how to solve the problem because they will be punished by the voters. And let's face it, this is not a "sexy" issue that gets people's attention. The young people of America have no idea of the mountain of debt that prior generations have foisted upon them. I don't expect many board members to listen to the entire show. I would urge everyone to simply listen to the first ten minutes. The magnitude of this dilemma cannot be overstated.
