I asked an LAPD friend about the whole thing. Apparently a whole bunch of reinforcements were
called in from Simi Valley, which is where all the hard core White Power LAPD guys go to be as one
with one another. Apparently they're not quite as disciplined as some other officers feel they ought to
be. That's just rumor, of course. But the truth is, at every public political event here, the participants
are surrounded and contained by those scary-looking rows of masked and armored riot cops, with
every variety of frightening-looking weapon you can think of, snipers on the rooftops, and choppers
overhead. It sends a real message to all concerned that the first amendment has been reconsidered as
a privilege, not a right. That can only lead to trouble. Next up: A constitutional amendment to change the name of the Bill of Rights to the Bill of Things
