Icon Re: god is not great... and Hitchens is only occasionally interesting

Interesting the wave of "anti-religion" bestsellers recently: Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins, and now Hitchens. I read Harris' book and found him tiresome and in some instances, really offensive. His anti- Muslim, pro-torture rationales were way over the top and certainly, for me anyway, negated anything meaningful he might have had to say about the nature of religion.

Harris is a second-rate intellect with an ax to grind and a marketing niche to fill. His book was a huge best-seller though and he obviously struck a nerve among many readers.

The cynic in me might suspect that Hitchens is drilling in the exact same spot looking for a little gold of his own.
