Really, Gene is responsible for me finally sending that song to Dan. With a little assist from David and Jeff Tweedy. Gene and I did talk about music and guitars, of course, and after a few beers and a few more glasses of cava...yeah, he had me nearly ready to send the song in. Then I sobered up the next day and couldn't do it. What finally got me to do it was David being so generous and sending a whole bunch of his stuff out for us to hear including stuff that may have been recorded at a kitchen table. That made me think, well, if this guy will do that and he's fine with it then why should I care about sending in something that I felt needed more work. Finally, I was watching Jeff Tweedy and Wilco the night before on this dvd that came with their new record and Tweedy said something about music and songs and the next morning, I was in a good mood...Monica was due to testify, David asked to read something I had wrote, and I was loving the new Wilco record...I was all smiles and rainbows...and said "fuck it" and sent it to Dan before I left the office.

I'll admit as I was driving to my appointment I got a little nervous about if I should have sent it or not. I'm fine with people reading something I wrote because I think I can do that but music is not something I feel I do real well so I'm pretty critical of myself in that area. I wanted to be a jazz guy and never put that kind of time into it...so I probably set the bar way to high for myself but that's just how we are with ourselves. Who really likes to hear themselves sing? I listen to it and I keep hearing all the mistakes I made and it's tough to get past that.

Thank you all for the nice comments. Hey, you guys can be hard on me too...I see Mick has not beat me up on it yet...

Anyway, so we are in talks to form a new Crosby, Stills, & Nash type group...Gene, Mick, and I should be on tour soon...Benjamin, Wildfong, & Toher...sure it's sort of an unwieldy name...a bit too prog sounding...I think Mick likes that though...
