Thanks for the clarification. …Although I am a bit of a Simple-Simon (formally), I do read and try to grasp information & have read your posts with a belief that you are far from a wingnut, more of a realist with both knowledgeable eyes open, so my arguments are mostly never anti-your point of view. There’s no doubt you have a far better grasp of world finance than I & it seems you are right-on with this post. I understand now what you mean by left-anti-business. But I also believe there’s far more to it than the leftist or rightist status quo historically. Whatever may have worked before has reached a staggering-point in this past decade or so: deregulation, privatization, me-me-my-my has run us amuck, & claims that the economy is better…are propaganda (no more legitimate a term applies). Left, Right, Center, …if it is about BOD profits over justice & balance of humanity in a forward thinking culture of inspired & endeavored people of every walk in life, then it is the fuel for this quagmire we now find ourselves weeping & gnashing our teeth in. Let me try to clarify, it’s going to get wordy from here on in…I just know it:
Although I may hammer-out a bitch at every turn about the present corporate model, it’s because of the current nature of the beast. I operate a small-potatoes business. One who has a small business is usually defined as entrepreneurial…& an entrepreneur cannot possibly be anti-business as such. Granted, I’m only an entrepreneur to bring home a pittance for the pot & would much rather pour every drop of my heart, flesh & soul into a creative venture with a small group of likeminded artists, then fight to find a market for our creation, but I’m probably getting too old for that tack…& providing a service for people who dig the outcome, while not usurping or destroying in the process, has it’s rewarding aspects to be sure. But the corpora-machine of the 21st Century is one of upper echelon gluttony incarnate. In my processes I don’t shellac everyone on the down line in order to underwrite the lion’s share for myself. I provide a service and ask a fair recompense, …job complete everyone is happy. If my venture fails to produce, I am done & done. Whereas if a top-shelf CEO/Prez fails to produce excellent results…even to the point of ruining the lives of his subordinates, he’s given a golden get-out-of-jail ticket &/or compensated 10 score with a platinum parachute the likes of which can alter the tides and cause Asians on the other side of the planet to let wind a bit and fall into fits of giggles, as he’s eased gently into warm retirement…for services poorly rendered to company & community. Whhhat!? The present business paradigm is so comically lopsided, so horrendous in it’s ways & means of fleecing the peepes, with revenues being amassed, like psychotic French Crowned Heads piling gold and fresh booty for miles up the castle tower while throwing rotten tomatoes to the townspeople, that there looks to be no view of a viable upside for anyone considered working-middleclass. Come-on, man, you know it is wrong. It’s not anti-capitalist to admit that the top CEOs of the planet & every one of their predecessors and their predecessors are bloodsucking the economy dry like a flock o middle-aged vampires chowing-down on teenyboppers @ an all night ecstasy rave-up. & our government is providing the lube…and skimming the remainders, leaving just this side of nada for you & me and our neighbors. I won’t even bring up insurance, …oh…my…gourd, man!!
It doesn’t have to be that way. The rich can still be rich-rich and the poor and unimaginative or uninspired to produce or create or serve can still be poor, & the middle can be economically viable & worthy of a festive state of mind more often than not. It was that way once, it could be again. I don’t’ know anybody, personally, who has ill feelings towards the rich. Only the fact that there is such a thing as far too much of a well-heeled drain on the overall (whole) sum total of the national pie in the sky. It’s physics, my soul brother. There really is only so much that can be scraped together by the hoi-polloi to give upwards into the oblivion that has become the gluttony of our local, state & federal coffers. & the major corporations they kowtow to that bend them over at the waist & grease their hinnies oh just a little (& then ours a bit less as a national descending trend) before they……..drive the bologna home with outward impunity.
Is it anti-business to find something wrong with wages cut by nearly half for our local skilled laborers while EVERYTHING in America cost twice, three times, 5 times what it cost back when wages were at this level nationally? It’s madness to think this is a healthy economic trend. Madness definitive. Madness definitive, squared.
I value business. Well, for sake of the economic providence, viability, that sort of thing that it offers every citizen. Anybody who wants to raise & higher educate a family, own a house, grow something green, take a vacation every now and then, see the country and travel overseas when the desires surface, yada-yada, must care for the industrious upper middle class and better…for they create opportunity. Used to create opportunity galore, now they do something else…that is called opportunity…but is…well…dishonest at best.
…if you made it this far, …thanks for reading. It’s just one honest point of view. Not motivated by politics, …merely bearing in mind the effect on my general location.
